Brow/Eyelid Lift

A browlift is a procedure designed to rejuvenate the upper one-third of the face. The following problems can be improved: droopy eyebrows, hooding of the upper eyelids, transverse forehead wrinkles and the vertical "frown lines" in the area between the brows.  This is often done at the time of eyelid surgery. Dr. Thimmappa prefers to do this procedure endoscopically with a few small incisions within the scalp.

A blepharoplasty (or eyelid lift) is an operation on either the upper or the lower eyelids designed to remove excess skin and fat. In the upper eyelid a blepharoplasty is designed primarily to improve the aged, tired appearance caused by the redundant fold of skin that descends over the eyelid with age. If severe enough, the redundant skin can produce obstruction of one’s vision. In this case, the procedure may be covered by insurance.

“Ptosis” is a distinct problem from excess upper eyelid skin, although it often accompanies the excess skin we develop with age. This refers to a droopy position of the upper eyelid. Again if severe enough to obstruct one’s vision, correction may be covered by insurance.
The incision lines are designed for scars to be well concealed within the natural within the natural crease of the upper eyelid.

In the lower eyelid, a blepharoplasty tightens the skin and muscle and removes the "bags" we often develop. The goals of lower eyelid surgery are to smooth the contour from the lower eyelid to cheek. This is also a good procedure if you have a droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye).

Conditions of the lower eyelid may be corrected with an incision just below the lower lash line or inside the eyelid, without the need for an external incision.

Surgeries are generally outpatient procedures, and may be performed under local or general anesthesia.
