Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty) in Vancouver WA |
|
Dr. Thimmappa brings her specialized experience in Rhinoplasty to clients in the Vancouver, WA and Portland metro area that are looking to improve how their nose looks and/or functions. In general, a rhinoplasty (nose job) is designed to improve the aesthetic appearance of the nose, but it can also be performed to improve breathing (see below). In most cases excess cartilage and bone is removed to provide a smaller, straighter, more aesthetic appearance. Occasionally tissue is added to the nose. Rhinoplasty to Improve Breathing
Difficulty breathing and sinus problems can be caused by other conditions as well, and a careful diagnostic examination is needed before surgery. While individual insurance policies can vary, functional surgery to improve breathing is covered by many insurance plans. The cost of simultaneous correction of cosmetic deformities of the nose is usually not covered by insurance. How Rhinoplasty is Performed
Splints and internal tubes will likely support the nose as it begins to heal for approximately one week. While initial swelling subsides within a few weeks, it may take up to a year for your new nasal contour to fully refine. During this time you may notice gradual changes in the appearance of your nose as it refines to a more permanent outcome. Swelling may come and go and worsen in the morning during the first year following your nose surgery. |
